Josh Burleson delivers high quality patient care and emergency medical care in his roles as Correctional Nurse at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility and as an Emergency Department Technician at the University of Vermont Medical Center. As a correctional nurse, Josh provides chronic and episodic health care to incarcerated men and women, most of whom suffer from addiction and mental health illnesses that exacerbate their medical challenges.
Josh is eager to serve as a board member at Spectrum. Many of his clients have experienced pivotal and traumatic events during childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood that have gone untreated by community support systems. Josh has seen first-hand how this lack of support causes a downward spiral into drug addiction, untreated mental illness, and deep poverty. Josh believes that Spectrum is in a unique position to provide the skills, structure, services, and safety-net to our community’s youth and provide the intervention and defining services that prevent such detriment in individuals’ lives, services upon which they can reflect and say, “That made a difference.”
Originally from New York State, Josh lives in Essex Junction with his wife and daughter.
