Community Support and Supervision The community support and supervision team provides direct minimal to intensive support for juvenile probationers living in their communities. In 2006, approximately 63 youth referred by the Department for Children and Families (DCF) were served through this program. They hold youth accountable for their activities and whereabouts through phone and personal contact. Staff members work in collaboration with DCF staff, parents, foster parents, school personnel, and other service providers. Community Support and Supervision provide: - Individual community service placements
- Group community service days
- Curfew checks
- Transportation to select activities and appointments
- Resources and support for youth to find and maintain employment
- Assistance in monitoring youth activities and whereabouts
- Parental support and guidance
- Support at treatment team meetings, school meetings, and court hearings
Skill building is an essential component of the Balanced and Restorative Justice Model and our community's progressive probation system. Street Checkers offer activities to build competency skills with youth, including: - Connections - skill building, such as decision making, conflict resolution, relationships, and communication
- Impact - focuses on raising awareness about the impact of our actions.
- Girls' Gab Group - safe place for girls to discuss the issues that affect their lives and to develop healthy relationships with other young women.
