Mary joined Spectrum in October 2021 as a member of the Warming Shelter team while she finishes her Master’s in Public Administration at the University of Vermont. Her background is in community development, and she holds two B.A.’s in International Development and Anthropology.
She moved back to Vermont after being evacuated from her Peace Corps service in Jamaica where her belief in the power of community and relationship building were strengthened. These passions had developed during her work in food rescue with the Boston organization Lovin’ Spoonful’s and as gleaning coordinator in Vermont’s Rutland County.
When not working or studying, Mary enjoys volunteering locally with the Family Room, Parent University and local mutual aid groups. In her spare time, she tries to take it easy by practicing yoga, cooking, spending quality time with friends, and going for long walks.
