With the passage of the federal health care law and support from the state legislature, Vermont has been able to build Vermont Health Connect to give more Vermonters access to quality, affordable coverage. Vermont Health Connect is a marketplace where individuals, families and small businesses can make side-by-side comparisons of private health plans and find financial help to pay for care. Vermont Health Connect is also for individuals and families in Vermont to find out about and enroll in public health coverage.
Spectrum Youth & Family Services received a grant through Vermont Health Connect to be a Navigator organization. This means that staff in our Drop-In Center will be available to help youth in Chittenden County, ages 18-24, understand and enroll in the new health care marketplace that is opening October 1, 2013.
We are also able to do outreach to try and reach as many of our target population as possible to spread the word about Vermont Health Connect and the upcoming health insurance changes. This could mean presentations at your agency or tabling at an event.
