Liana Redmond

Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Liana started at Spectrum in June 2022. She is an international adoptee who was born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in the suburbs of Essex Junction. Combining her passion for systems work, her lived experiences as a BIPOC Vermonter, various professional careers, and graduate-level education in counseling, she is looking forward to addressing big picture questions about diversity, equity, and inclusion as Spectrum’s Director of DEI. Through a critically conscious and intersectional lens, she aims to be an agent of change in the community by dismantling systems of oppression and creating more accessible programming and services for all marginalized populations.

Prior to joining Spectrum, she was a full-time student in UVM’s Counseling Program, a graduate teaching assistant for the department, and a clinical intern at Centerpoint. Highlights from her last two years include: providing clinical mental health counseling to adolescents from the ages of 11 to 22, co-facilitating the YPAR class at Edmund’s Middle School, creating and launching new program initiatives (i.e., an internal mentoring program), and serving on both the DEI and faculty hiring committees as a student representative. It was both an honor and privilege to receive the Eric Nichols Social Justice Award at the end of her time with UVM.

Before deciding to pursue her master’s in counseling in 2020, she lived and worked in Columbus, OH. She dabbled in multiple careers like recruiting, sales, and digital marketing and worked in a variety of industries such as technical staffing, real estate, and hospitality. She has always had a hand in the service industry, serving and/or bartending the evening and weekend shifts, to switch up her work environments and have a secondary source of income. An enthusiasm for service, along with a desire to understand different organizational ecosystems, have truly paved the foundation of her professional identity today.

In addition to an M.S. in Counseling from UVM, she graduated from the Ohio State University in 2016 with a B.A. in Strategic Communication and a minor in Social Psychology. However, her undergraduate years were split between both the University of Central Florida and OSU.

She is a true ambivert who balances an active social life with binging trashy Netflix originals. She is a Cancer/Leo cusp, a true astrological nightmare. She loves ALL things Ohio State – Go Buckeyes. She often prefer whatever is on kid’s menu and at the end of the day, it’s my dog’s (Oscar) world, and I’m just livin’ in it.
